| Introduction |

| The
Hong Kong Institution of Highways and Transportation, commonly known
as HKIHT, was founded in 1999. Over 100 individual and 20 organizational
founding members were recorded in its inauguration. It is one of
the learned societies in the Hong Kong Special Administration Region
of the People’s Republic of China, focusing on infrastructure
and transportation systems. |

is eligible to join? |

| HKIHT
Membership is open to anyone working in highways and transportation.
Many of its members are professionally qualified engineers, such
as Corporate Membership of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers,
Registered Professional Engineers of Hong Kong and Chartered Engineers
of the U.K.
As
an integrated multi-modal organization, HKIHT membership are formed
from a wide range of discipline including

Certificate of Membership is sent to all new members. This confirms
the date of election and membership grade. A membership number is
allocated to members of HKIHT. |

| Criteria
for Admission |
|
|
|
| Fellows |
Over
35 years of age and hold a degree or a professional qualification.
He must have held an important position of independent responsibilities
in any fields related to transportation for at least 4 years and be
able to demonstrate significant experience. |
| Members |
Over
25 years of age, hold a degree or a professional qualification and
after gaining the qualification at least two years office/site experience
in a relevant field within transportation or a Registered Professional
Engineer of Hong Kong/ Chartered Engineer of the U.K. |
| Associate
Members |
Either
graduates with a degree and currently engaged in or seeking works
in highways and transportation or holds a non-degree academic qualification
and worked in highways &transportation for over 2 years. |
| Students |
Currently
full time students studying in any field of engineering and/or in
service training in highways and transportation, traffic and/ or road
safety. Maximum age for student membership shall be 27 years. |
